Elections 2026: call for candidates


Dear ISTEE Members,

As the International Society of Trace Elements in the Environment (ISTEE) continues to establish its organizational structure, we are holding a special mid‑term election to fill vacancies for the second year of the current biennial term.

Open positions

1. Vice-President / President-Elect

  • Term: Remainder of the current 2‑year Vice‑President/President‑Elect term (with subsequent rotation to President, then Past President).

  • Eligibility: Only candidates from Americas, Asia, and Global Communities are eligible, because the Vice-President must be from a different geographical region than the President (Europe).

  • Responsibilities include supporting ISTEE leadership, serving as co‑signatory on conference agreements, and assuming presidential duties if required.

2. Auditing Committee Members (4 positions)

  • Term: Two positions until the end of the current 2-year, two positions until 2029.

  • Responsibilities: Audit and approve biennial budgets and reports prepared by the Treasurer.

Nomination Process

We welcome self‑nominations as well as nominations of colleagues.

Please submit the following documents:

  • Name, affiliation, and contact information

  • Statement of interest (max. 1 page)

  • Short CV (max. 2 pages)

Deadline for nominations: May 1st, 2026

Election Timeline

Following the close of nominations:

  • The Secretary will prepare the ballot and distribute it electronically to all members eligible to vote, by June 1st, 2026

  • Voting will remain open until August, 1st, 2026.

  • Election results will be verified and announced to the membership by email no later than September, 15 2026.

Newly elected members will assume duties from October, 1st onwards.

Broad and inclusive participation in leadership is essential to make ISTEE a strong society. We hope that members from all geographic regions consider standing for election.
